Criollo means “Native” in Spanish, Criollo Cacao beans are the rarest and most expensive on the market representing only 5% of the worlds’ cacao production; it is used to make the world’s finest chocolates for the world’s most exquisite palates.
Our Peruvian Criollo Cacao beans are low in acidity, have an intense aroma and a delicate flavour with undertones of walnuts and caramel. These beans are very high in anti-oxidants such as procyanidins and flavanoids which may be beneficial for cardiovascular health, lower LDL Cholesterol and lower blood pressure. Also, cacao consumption helps to release endorphins, they are what give runners a high, so eating them gives us a feel good sensation that keep us going all day.
